Socorro, NM; St. Petersberg, Russia; Vienna, Austria — (company press release) — FSMLabs Inc. today released version 2.2 of RTLinux (RealTime Linux). The new release adds support for Pthreads mutex and includes early support for signal handling, as the RTLinux API becomes more compliant with the POSIX 1003.13 PE51 profile in a high performance, low overhead implementation.

RTLinux V2 supports a POSIX pthread style API, SMP processors, POSIX style device drivers and highly optimized timing code. RTLinux is a modified version of the Linux kernel that provides the hard realtime functionality needed to control machinery while making the full power of the Linux kernel available. RTLinux is a realtime, multithreaded process, running close to the bare machine, where one of the threads is the Linux operating system.

“By combining the well known POSIX API with our model of connecting simple realtime components to Linux processes, RTLinux is now becoming an easy to learn tool, while remaining at the performance edge” says FSMLabs CEO Victor Yodaiken. RTLinux is widely used in industry and in research labs.
