New services address “from source” embedded Linux development
Nov 18, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsOpersys has launched an integrated set of services intended to enable developers to build embedded Linux systems straight from source without having to purchase any third-party packages or tools. These services include training, support, professional services, and mentoring.
Opersys CEO and founder Karim Yaghmour says the new services are based on the approach described in his book, Building Embedded Linux Systems, published by O'Reilly and Associates, and that they empower developers to build embedded Linux systems using only open source and free software packages, hence avoiding vendor lock-in, per-unit royalties, and the cost of additional tools.
According to Yaghmour: “Opersys is the first vendor to provide a fully-integrated set of services for providing developers with the knowledge and support for developing embedded Linux systems using the original open source and free software packages available on the Internet.”
