Froglogic GmbH is shipping a new major version of its automated, cross-platform GUI testing framework for Qt applications. Squish 2.0 features automated test script creation and an improved point-and-click interface. It works with applications written using Trolltech's Qt GUI toolkit.

Froglogic shipped the first stable version of Squish in November of 2003, saying the package could test Qt and Qt/Embedded applications without modifying the AUT (application under test). An interim release followed in March of 2004.

Claimed features in the new version include:

• Supports Qt 4.0 and earlier versions, on all platforms
• Usability improvements when inserting verification points for object properties and screen shots
• Support for verification points in non-QObject items, such as list view and menu items
• Verification point API and editor improve verification point handling
• Support for testing multiple applications from one test script, useful when testing program interaction, or multiple application instances
• New script API for advanced synchronization points, such as waiting for a condition to become true
• New script API to install event handlers
• Improved error handling and diagnostics
