OLED display to demo on IBM Linux wrist watch proto
Jan 5, 2001 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsA prototype high resolution Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display will be shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in a Linux watch developed by IBM. The watch-sized display was jointly developed by eMagin Corporation and IBM Research by forming the organic light emitters directly on a custom silicon chip. With a pixel density of 740 per inch in a format of 640 by 480 pixels, the OLED display prototype can show extremely fine yellow on black text and graphical images. The display has high contrast that allows users to see images even under direct sunlight.
The prototype will be demonstrated at the 2001 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV on January 6-8, 2001 in IBM's booth (N-230) at the North second floor of the convention center.
