Davis, CA. — ON Channel Inc., a developer of embedded Linux software for consumer Internet access devices and the embedded industrial market, today announced it has begun integrating and customizing its OS 2000 embedded Linux software for specific consumer solutions shipping this quarter.

ON Channel's primary customers are OEMs and developers of consumer electronics, Internet access devices, and embedded industrial solutions. OS 2000 gives those customers the key features of a fully functional Linux OS — reliability, stability, security, and high functionality in a small memory footprint, specially tailored to OEM specific hardware.

“The market for a Linux-based embedded OS has been latent, awaiting someone to address the technical challenges of reducing the kernel size to meet the memory footprint and functionality requirements of embedded systems, ” said Bill Tauskey, ON Channel President and CEO. “I believe we have accomplished this with OS 2000. ON Channel allows for applications previously restricted by memory, cost, or other constraints to now become economically viable.”

“ON Channel offerings, based on the Linux kernel, provide OEM and solution providers with all the benefits the Linux community has to offer, including faster time to market, increased functionality, higher stability, easy customization and integration capabilities, and extremely broad support for new platforms and devices that are coming to market. Based on these advantages, we believe embedded Linux solutions will quickly surpass the existing embedded operating system offerings that exist today,” said Tauskey.

ON Channel provides customization, integration and application development services and support for embedded Linux solutions. OS2000 is targeted as the OS of choice for consumer electronics and industrial purposes. All ON Channel's operating system functions in a variety of storage solutions including flash memory, hard disk, CD-ROM, and DVD-ROM.

* Multitasking and multithreading
* POSIX and X Server compatibility
