San Diego, CA — (press release excerpt) — PTSC (Patriot Scientific Corp.) today announced the completion of its OSGi Suite, providing developers with the capability to rapidly prototype gateways architecture in existing or new platforms.

The offering consists of two backplanes that either provide integration into a PC environment, as a PCI bus card, or as the foundation for a new device platform. Either one of the backplanes supports up to four IGNITE peripheral modules such as Processor (IPM), Network (INM), Serial communication (ISM) and Memory (IMM). A wireless module will be also added to the package in Q3 2001.

Custom drivers and APIs for [Linux and Windows] enable communication between master and slave processors in dual architecture gateways. PTSC's vxPresso software suite and Sun Microsystems' Java Embedded Server 2.0 provide the entire software infrastructure required. Bundled with the offering are two fully documented, sample OSGi client applications, based on X-10 and OneWire communication protocols.

The product will be available in limited quantity beginning August 2001.
