VersaLogic announced a special promotion featuring the company's PC/104-Plus form-factor Jaguar single-board computer (SBC) along with a free 48MB M-Systems DiskOnChip Flash disk with a preinstalled copy of Red Hat Linux 7.1. The bundle is intended to give embedded system developers an opportunity to demo a Jaguar SBC and try Linux at the same time, the company said.

VersaLogic said it normally sells DiskOnChip separately, without Linux preinstalled. Starting up the SBC with the bootable Linux DiskOnChip plugged in immediately launches Linux into a graphical user interface, from developerscan further customize the system and begin running applications. The Linux 2.4.18 kernel based build includes all drivers needed to access the SBC's onboard devices such as Ethernet, video, and I/O, the company said.

VersaLogic said its Jaguar PC/104-Plus SBC supports a range of Pentium III or Celeron CPUs, from 350 MHz (fanless) to 850 MHz, and also includes 10/100 Ethernet, AGP video (for CRT or flat panel), “industrial” I/O, and a DiskOnChip socket.
