RED-Kit comes pre-loaded with all the necessary Linux software necessary to create either real-time or non real-time applications. RED-Kit is an ideal turnkey solution for prototype development as well as for evaluating REDSonic's real-time REDICE-Linux. Typical applications include Internet appliances, web servers, MP3 players, DHCP client/servers, routers, firewalls, gateways, and proxy Servers.

REDICE-Linux is ideal for mission and time critical applications and provides quality of service for embedded systems. It includes a high precision microsecond timer, a short preemption time kernel, powerful and predictable system schedulers, and mechanisms to provide task performance guarantees.

REDICE-Linux software features include:

  • Anthony's Editor, a very small text editor that is easy to use
  • DHCP client and server
  • Tiny shell, which supports all standard Bourne shell commands
  • Ability to issue commands to delay job execution and batch processing
