Force Computers has introduced what it claims is the first PrPMC (Processor PCI Mezzanine Card) module to be based on IBM's PowerPC 750GX processor. The new module, designated the PowerPMC-275, is available with either one or two 1.0GHz processors, and is ideal for telecommunications, networking, storage, medical imaging, and… industrial control applications, according to Force.

The PowerPMC-275 supports both monarch and nonmonarch mode operation, and includes 1MB boot flash memory, 64MB user Flash memory, dual serial interfaces, multiple I2C EEPROMs for board information and module configuration, and 2Mbit of built-in SRAM which is useful for optimizing networking performance.

Force supports the module with MontaVista Linux as well as a VxWorks BSP.

The PowerPMC-275 will be available in March, price at $1,525 for a single unit.
