PPC AMCs support Linux, target telecom

The “AMC Platform” product family will support RapidIO or gigabit Ethernet backplanes, and work under Linux and other popular embedded OSes in standards-compliant wireline and wireless… infrastructure products, the company says.

Announced AMC Platform products include:
- EP8548A — AMC.2 and AMC.4 compliant module based on Freescale's MPC8548E PowerQUICC III processor
- EP8641A — AMC2. and AMC.4 compliant module based on Freescale's dual-core MPC8641D
- EP8122A — “DSP farm” card with eight MSC8122 quad-core DSPs and gigabit Ethernet port on AMC channel 0
- EP8144A — AMC.2 and AMC.2 compliant “DSP farm” card with six MSC8144 quad-core DSPs
- EP568T AMC.4 compliant carrier board supporting four single-width AMCs
Matt Hoover, VP of sales and marketing, stated, “Customers [can] mix and match modules to meet specific application demands.”
Availability
Embedded Planet's AMC Platform products are scheduled for production availability in Q4, 2006, with limited prototypes available earlier. Custom configurations are available. Pricing was not disclosed.
