Red Hat to introduce Embedded Linux Developer Suite

As part of an announcement today from Red Hat regarding the availability of Red Hat Linux version 7.2, the company also disclosed that Red Hat Embedded Linux Developer Suite, a new Embedded Linux toolkit, is being prepared for release. Quoting from today's announcement . . .

Red Hat will be announcing the availability of the Red Hat Embedded Linux Developer Suite, a packaged solution for… creating embedded applications and devices. The Developer Suite, which will start at $2,500.00, accelerates development cycles and improves product quality by using Red Hat Linux 7.2 as the common base for the host and target platforms.

Red Hat Linux 7.2 is based on Linux kernel version 2.4.7 and includes the new Ext3 Journaling file system for enhanced data reliability.

Sources within Red Hat have indicated that the new Embedded Linux toolkit is likely to be available for use by developers within one to two weeks.
