Review of the “Most Linuxy” PDA
Oct 19, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsBargainPDA.com has reviewed Yopy's YP-3700, a futuristic $440 PDA based on embedded Linux. The reviewer praises the device's Linux potential, thanks to ample system resources and a modified X GUI. Also drawing praise are the PIM suite, office app stack, and retro-futuristic style touches. Less praise-worthy are the small 320×240 screen and bulky, limiting cradle, according to the reviewer.
The YP-3700 is based on a 206 MHz Intel Strong ARM 32 bit RISC processor. It has 128MB of RAM and 32MB of ROM. Interfaces include CF II, MMC, IrDA, audio, RS-232C and USB (client) for the cradle.
Software includes a PIM suite, multimedia suite, office suite, web browser and email, file manager, utilities, and desktop connection.
