Tricastmedia has announced a new version of its cross-platform software technology for creating light-weight, rich applications for devices and networks using J2ME MIDP. The TWUIK UI platform for mobile and consumer electronic devices runs on a number of operating systems including embedded Linux and Windows Mobile, according to the… company.

TWUIK creates a “Flash-like” user interface with an advanced animation and effects engine, Tricastmedia said. The platform supports the notion of “widgets” that allow users to get web data without opening a browser.

According to the company, mobile operators and service providers can use TWUIK to create and deliver “a diverse range of content and services through a simple and consistent end-user interface.” Additionally, the platform makes it easy for users to discover available content and services, which has the benefit of encouraging mobile data consumption.

Tricastmedia CEO Dr Ihsan Riaz stated, “With TWUIK, you can develop visually compelling mobile application once and then deploy to multiple devices and operating systems, in a fraction of the time needed with other technologies.”

The company offers a range of licensing models for both development and deployment of TWUIK-based applications.
