Servo motors, Linux/RTAI, and other fun stuff
Nov 18, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsThis detailed technical article by Pramode C.E. describes a simple application developed by Pramode's students using the Real-Time Application Interface (RTAI), a platform for developing real-time applications with Linux. Part of a computer vision project, the application controls a servo-attached webcam through a browser interface.
Pramode's students were inspired by the famous “Cat Cam” article by Cort Dougan: Creating a web page controlled 2-axis movable camera with RTLlinux/Pro.
The article contains much sample code, and covers:
- Controlling the servo
- Using interrupts
- Measuring pulse width
- Semaphores and Priority inversion
