May 18, 2001 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 6 viewsBig Sandy, TX — (press release excerpt) — Advantage Business Computer Systems today announced availability of the TCSX-1, a compact Linux-based thin client system that was “originally designed as a small thin client for use with the Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP),” according to Advantage spokesman David Anders. “However, the device has many other potential uses,” adds Anders.
The system includes all the features of a complete desktop PC, including a 66/75 MHz 64-bit x86 STPC CPU, a standard set of I/O ports, a CRT/LCD SVGA display controller, and a built-in 10/100 Mbits/sec Ethernet interface, and comes packaged in a sturdy metal enclosure with mounting flanges.
Advantage is selling a base unit, which includes 16MB RAM and a 16MB flash disk, for $425. Further information about the device is located online, here.
“Since this is our first production run of this product, testing has been limited to our specific usage. However the unit should be fully Linux compatible,” says Anders. Interested parties are requested to contact David Anders, Advantage Business Computer Systems, phone 800-452-2502 ext 505
