Sun targets Microsoft’s .NET with free software [Reuters]

This move by Sun to embrace open standards, and Linux in particular, is yet another indication of a battle brewing between the two companies. For its part, Microsoft is phasing out Sun's Java in products in favor of home-grown .NET services. Both companies are vying to dominate the Internet by defining standards . . .
