TI unveils 2nd-gen OMAP processors for 2.5/3G mobile handsets
Feb 23, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 viewsTexas Instruments (TI) reveiled its new OMAP 2 processor architecture for 2.5 and 3G mobile phones at a press conference at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France today. TI says its next-generation processors based on OMAP 2 will provide features such as interactive 3D gaming, 4+ megapixel cameras, digital camcorders, TV, and more. According to TI, the processors support Symbian OS, Windows Mobile, Linux, Nucleus, and Palm OS.
The OMAP2410 and OMAP2420 processors and TML92230 power management companion chip are scheduled for first sample shipments during the first half of 2004.
