Toolsuite creates embedded databases for Linux-based systems
Aug 19, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsEncirq Corp. announced a suite of technology, tools, and components for creating databases for embedded systems and devices. Encirq 3e Database Suite for Embedded Systems can be used to create “the world's smallest embedded databases -- often in less than 50K,” the company said. Applications are said to cover a wide range of markets including cell phones, autos, and industrial systems. Supported operating systems include all versions of Linux, and the company said it has a formal partnership with MontaVista.
According to Encirq, in addition to small footprint, Encirq 3e offers high performance, easy programmability, power, and affordability for embedded applications.
Encirq CEO and founder Mark Vogel noted that “since the Encirq 3e database development tools generate completely custom portable C code, developers get the rich features their applications demand in the smallest possible size, without any excess baggage.”
Encirq's announcement said Encirq 3e databases are more than twice as fast and less than half the size of those generated by the earlier version (Encirq 2e), can operate with or without an operating system, and run on 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers and microprocessors.
Encirq 3e database and data management tools can be seamlessly integrated into popular IDEs, including Metrowerks CodeWarrior Development Studio and Microsoft Visual Studio, the company said. The suite includes a program logic language, an interactive prototyping tool, and a code generator that analyzes data logic and creates optimized, portable C code specific to an application's needs.
Encirq 3e is priced below $1 for high volume applications, and a free 30-day evaluation version is available for download from the company's website.
