DoubleWide Software has appointed an experienced CEO with 20 years of electronic design automation (EDA) industry experience. DoubleWide is a startup offering development tools that target embedded Linux and other device software developers and QA teams developing on hardware that is not yet available.

The new CEO, Jim Bailey, arrives from Cadence Design Systems, and previously served as General Manager of Simplex Solutions and in sales roles at Mentor Graphics. Bailey plans to expand customer and partner initiatives at DoubleWide.

DoubleWide in March announced a partnership with MontaVista around its Embedded Supersystems Virtualization (ESV) technology and “Designer” test tool.

Founder Ross Wheeler will move into the CTO role, and serve as vice president of engineering. Wheeler said, “[Bailey] can rapidly and profitably scale business operations in emerging technology markets. This will enable me to focus on advancing our ESV technology and delivering high-value products to market.”

U.S. Venture partner Stuart G. Phillips said, “Jim has demonstrated an ability to build and grow organizations.”

Bailey said, “DoubleWide Software's first-of-its-kind approach to complete system virtualization offers the first high-performance simulation solution to address complex embedded systems, and I'm looking forward to further expanding this technology into the mainstream embedded market.”
