Wireless multimedia messaging platform supports Linux
Nov 16, 2001 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views(press release) — Multimedia messaging allows wireless users to send and receive standard images, audio clips and video clips using their mobile phones or PDAs. Imagine receiving cricket/football highlights, news clips and greeting cards on a mobile phone on a need basis. Multimedia messaging is going to be a successor to SMS, becoming the 'killer application' for 2.5G network deployments.
TeleDNA's MMS Platform is a high performance, highly available, scalable and reliable server – which provides the next generation of multi media messaging service. TeleDNA's solution provides mobile2email, email2mobile, mobile2mobile and enterprise2mobile multi media messaging services. The MMSRelay also acts as a gateway to the existing short message centers. TeleDNA's MMSRelay can be seamlessly integrated into the existing CDMA-1xRTT and GPRS networks. The solution adheres to the 3gpp standards.
The high availability software is built for carrier grade standard platforms. MMSPlatform is a totally integrated solution, which is comprised of a billing and statistics interface, and a management interface with local and remote connectivity. Different proprietary techniques are used to personalize and route the messages based on wireless device capabilities and end user preferences.
“One of the platforms that is supported with a high availability layer is Linux” said Mr. Praveen Nallapothula, Chief Technology Officer of TeleDNA Inc.
