New Motorola IP telephony reference platform features Linux support

Sharp publishes SL-5500 vs. SL-5600 comparison whitepaper

Family of “home network processors” adds encryption engine

Conexant Systems announced a new family of home network processors for broadband gateways and wide area network access applications. The CX8611x family enables secure, high-speed Internet access sharing for multiple personal computers while supporting Ethernet, USB, HomePNA, HomePlug, IEEE 802.11a/b/g, and other network media, the company said. CDMA retains US handset dominance, but GSM gain likely

A recent study by EMC Market Data indicates that the US handset market attained 141.4 million cellular phone subscribers as of December 2002, surpassing 50% penetration. The report observes that CDMA technology currently dominates the US market, and is likely to continue to do so through 2007, despite the challenge from GSM, the dominant mobile phone standard in Europe and several other markets.
