New VoIP software to support Linux-based mobile devices

Witnet announced development of “ModaPhone,” a wireless VoIP solution which enables phone calls from wireless devices via the Internet. According to Witnet, the new software supports several wireless standards including 802.11, GPRS, and CDMA, and enables VoIP calls to other computers and wireless devices running the ModaPhone software, as well as calls to cell phones. Tiny drive squeezes 1.5 GB into 1-inch format

Agilent focuses tiny camera modules on mobile devices

Agilent has introduced a family of miniature camera modules for mobile phones and wireless PDAs. The modules are said to provide a complete imaging solution, including high image quality CIF or VGA resolution CMOS image sensors, tightly integrated image processor, embedded power supply, and high-quality lens. New XScale chips target faster, smaller, lighter PDAs

Global broadband market to break $4 billion by 2006

Market research firm Forward Concepts announced the release of a report on the worldwide broadband market, including DSL and cable modem technologies. uClinux ported to Motorola ColdFire MCF5282
