Programmable SOCs gain Linux RTOS, tools support

Citing heavy customer demand for embedded Linux, QuickLogic Corp. says it has partnered with TimeSys to offer ready-to-run Linux RTOS software development kits (SDKs) for its QuickMIPS family of programmable system-on-chip (SOC) processors. Embedded Linux distribution boots from USB thumb drive

Linux Mobile System (LMS) is an implementation of embedded Linux for USB “thumb” drives that can boot most any x86 computer into a Linux environment. Unlike so-called “live CDs,” LMS allows files to be stored and information exchanged between systems. Linux-powered industrial switchbox manages eight power mains

The Utronix IP-SwitchBox800 uses embedded Linux to provide remote control of power mains and a serial device. The IP-SwitchBox800 can switch up to eight 230-Volt mains, with maximum combined current of 16 amps, and attach to and control one machine through a serial port. (more…)

First CoM with IXP425 runs embedded Linux

Kontron announced what it claims is the first Computer-on-Module (COM) based on Intel's XScale IXP42x network processor. The EB425 “E2Brain” module features high integration density, measures 2.95 by 4.33 inches (75 x 115 mm), targets low-power real-time applications, and supports embedded Linux and VxWorks. (more…)

Chinese design center spins Linux-based “computing client” designs

Free OpenML SDK beta available

OpenSSL certification could expand U.S. government’s Open Source horizons

OpenSSL could soon provide a validated mechanism through which a variety of applications could satisfy U.S. Government requirements for encryption, increasing the availability and lowering the costs of secure software for use by the Government. This will be possible if OpenSSL can secure National Institute of Science and Technology's (NIST) FIPS 140-2 level 1 cryptographic validation. (more…)

ST multimedia applications processor runs Linux
