Search tool aims to speed open source due diligence

Another company has joined the nascent market for open source software due diligence research tools. San Francisco-based startup Palamida is now shipping its “IP Amplifer” software, which the company says can help companies understand the origins of the open source code they use, as well as their license obligations. Trolltech launches community website behind Qtopia

TimeSys tools gain Linux optimizations for 27 Freescale processors

TimeSys says its embedded Linux toolsuite is now available with Freescale-developed 2.6 Linux kernels optimized for 27 processors across five PowerQUICC and PowerPC chip families. FSMLabs dives into real-time Carrier Grade Linux market

FSMLabs is shipping a Carrier Grade version of its real-time Linux operating system. Carrier Grade RTLinux includes a 2.6 kernel, FSMLabs's patented real-time nanokernel, tools, and a complete, tested, validated Linux distribution, the company says. Siemens spins Linux-based cordless VoIP phone

Siemens will ship a Linux-based Wi-Fi cordless phone in August, according to eWEEK. The OptiPoint WL2 Professional will be SIP- and CorNet IP-compatible, and resemble a normal phone with a large screen. It will support both 8011b and 802.11g, and cost about $500, according to eWEEK. (more…)

MontaVista touts Carrier Grade Linux leadership

MontaVista says its Carrier Grade Linux distribution is the first to be registered with the Service Availability Forum's Application Interface Specification. Additionally, MontaVista's Linux Carrier Grade Edition was the first to achieve registration with the OSDL's Carrier Grade Linux (CGL) specification, in January of 2003, according to the company.
