Via samples C7 desktop chipset

Via is sampling the first chipset for its new C7 series desktop processors. The CN700 IGP chipset features 533MHz frontside (processor) and memory buses, built-in Unichrome graphics, a variety of media interfaces, and a low-power design, the company says. (more…)

Spate of news from real-time Linux vendor

Real-time embedded Linux specialist FSMLabs announced two product releases and an educational discount in its December newsletter. A 2.2.1 dot-release of RTLinux adds UML modeling features, while the company's Carrier Grade RTLinux for 64-bit AMD has reached general availability. Samsung mobile SoC gains Linux SDIO stack

Indian startup EmbWise says its proprietary Linux SDIO stack now supports a Samsung SoC (system-on-chip) targeting mobile and handheld devices, and that the stack has been licensed by a “leading Linux PDA vendor.” The SDIOWorx stack now supports Samsung's S3C2410, a venerable mobile applications processor based on an ARM920 core.
