Kerneltrap.org has some useful news and information about the new anticipatory scheduler for the Linux kernel . . .

“Nick Piggin recently announced on the [linux kernel mailing list] that he, Jens Axboe and Andrew Morton all are in agreement that the anticipatory scheduler is stable enough for inclusion into Linus' mainline 2.5 development tree. He noted that there are some design issues with the elevator API itself and process I/O statistics, however acknowledging that it's not the right time for a redesign of these interfaces. The scheduler, they say, is ready for some mainline exposure . . .”
