May 1, 2001 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsSan Diego, CA — (press release excerpt) — Annabooks Events, producers of the Applied Computing Conference and Expo today announced the keynote addresses that will be presented at this year's conference, scheduled for May 14-17 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, Calif.
The three keynotes will address important issues facing the industry including the rollout of InfiniBand, the move to PCI 3.0, and the dramatic growth in network bandwidth and capability.
- On May 14th Jim Pappas, director of InfiniBand Marketing for Intel, will look at the opportunities companies have as InfiniBand ramps up for widespread deployment.
- On May 15th Anton Steenman, Director of the Communication Infrastructure Business Unit in the Embedded Intel Architecture Division will describe how, despite the far-reaching economic changes in the industry, the technical and business fundamentals of networks are still sound, and will continue to drive dramatic growth in network bandwidth and capability.
- On May 16th Roger Tipley, president and chairman of the board for the PCI-SIG, will discuss the move to PCI version 3.0. Specifically, he will address the decision to remove 5 volt signaling from PCI 3.0, and standardize on 3.3 volt option slots. Tipley will consider the ramifications of this change with respect to chip designs, system designs, and adapter card designs.
This year's technical program features tutorials and technical sessions on StarFabric, CompactPCI, PCI, and PCI-X, Infiniband, USB, embedded operating systems such as Embedded Linux, Windows CE, NTE, QNX, VxWorks, and Enea OSE.
Talks specifically on Embedded Linux include . . .
- Linux in Applied and Embedded Systems — Rick Lehrbaum, LinuxDevices.com
- Teaching Experienced Developers to Embed Linux — Gene Robinson, I-Logix
- Tuning Linux for IA based Communication Appliances — Bill Weinberg, MontaVista
