The annual eastern US Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) will take place Sept. 12-15 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. The event is the East Coast's largest forum for the “creators of technology” — design engineers and engineering management, according to event organizer CMP Media.

The technical program consists of more than 90 sessions covering hardware and software design for embedded systems. Highlights include the 2005 Embedded Security Seminar (Sept. 12-14), two full days of exhibitor workshops, and a keynote address by Avi Rubin, professor of computer science at Johns Hopkins University. Rubin will speak Sept. 13 about the global business impact of security and RFID technologies.

Individual sessions will be presented on Embedded Linux Interrupt Code, Real-time XML, Real-time Kernels, and Embedded GNU Jumpstart (led by Bill Gatliff of Sega Linux fame), among many others.

A full-day group tutorial on “Trusted Computing” is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 12. Seven classes and two general sessions will be held concurrently during three two-hour time periods each day Tuesday through Thursday in parallel with the exhibits.

The 18th annual west coast ESC will take place April 3-7, 2006 in San Jose, Calif.
