Opera Software has partnered with Amino Technologies to support Amino's Linux-based IP-STBs (Internet-protocol set-top boxes) and associated SDKs (software development kits). The Opera browser can function as a platform for dynamic applications and user interfaces, in addition to providing a… standards-compliant web browser, according to Opera.

Opera says Amino used its Opera 8.5 SDK to port the browser to its Intact IPTV Software Stack. The stack is available as an SDK, or with Amino's tiny AmiNet110, a device barely larger than it's own remote control.

Additionally, the companies will work to integrate the browser into next-generation products, according to Opera.

Amino GM Roy Kirsopp stated, “Its industry-leading support for the W3C Web standards and its remarkable performance make Opera an attractive choice.”

Availability

Amino's AmiNET110 set-top boxes with Opera browser are currently available, as are middleware stacks from Dreampark, Orca, Industria, Tandberg, and Alcatel.
