Access announced several management changes, including a new co-CEO, and the promotion of senior executives from networking subsidiary IP Infusion (including Koichi Narasaki, pictured, Access's new SEO/CSO). Access tapped Kiyoyasu Oishi, formerly COO, to head up Access Systems Americas, responsible for the Access Linux Platform (ALP).

According to Access, the Oishi appointment as new CEO of the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based ASA, which develops ALP, “strengthens the ties between Access corporate headquarters and the U.S. market and leverages ASA's strong R&D and product development teams.”

Additionally, Access has promoted Dr. Tomihisa (Tomy) Kamada, formerly CTO and an Access co-founder, to the role of co-CEO. Kamada shares the company's top executive spot with Toru Arakawa, who formerly held the position of CEO. Arakawa, meanwhile, will also become chairman, subject to stockholder approval of the newly created office in April. Two other executives moved over from IP Infusion, a networking middleware company that Access acquired in early 2006 (see below for more on IP Infusion.)

The promotions were announced by the board of directors of Access, a well-established mobile software provider known for its LiMo-compliant ALP mobile platform and Netfront browser. The executive role changes are as follows:

• Toru Arakawa is now co-CEO, and will become chairman, subject to stockholder approval of the newly created office in April. Arakawa formerly served as president and CEO.
• Dr. Tomihisa (Tomy) Kamada, formerly CTO, is now president and co-CEO.
• Koichi Narasaki remains CEO of IP Infusion, and is now also Senior Executive Officer (SEO) and CSO (chief strategy officer) of Access
• Kunihiro Ishiguro is now SEO, CTO, and CIO of Access, and will retain his position as CTO of IP Infusion.
• Kiyo Oishi has been named CEO of Access Systems Americas (ASA), and will remain an Access executive officer and SVP of global marketing (formerly Access COO)

Access acquired IP Infusion in April 2006. The San Jose, Calif. networking middleware company has provided technology for Access's NetFront IP Connect middleware. It also maintains ZebOS IP routing middleware, as well as Layer 2 and Layer 3 carrier-class routing and switching software. Designed to support the needs of Next Generation Network (NGN) IP packet-switched networks, ZebOS supports Linux and VxWorks, and was demonstrated running with MontaVista Linux back in 2002.

Access will demonstrate ALP 3.0 and other technologies at the Mobile World Congress 2009 next week in Barcelona. Other technologies on display include its new NetFront Widgets, as well as its NetFront Living Connect, a DLNA-compliant middleware stack for home network equipment related to NetFront IP Connect, says the company. The Access booth is located in the Courtyard Area CY10 of the show.
