Motorola touts Linux support for 32-way ATCA blade

Motorola has announced an AdvancedTCA (ATCA) blade based on one or two 16-core MIPS64 processors. The ATCA-9301 blade runs Linux on Cavium's Octeon Plus architecture, and was designed to run applications that process and forward packets at line rates up to 10Gbps, Motorola said. (more…)

In its annual report filed with the SEC in April, PVR (personal video recorder) pioneer TiVo cautioned that, “If the currently proposed version of GPLv3 is widely adopted, we may be unable to incorporate future enhancements to the GNU/Linux operating system into our software, which could adversely affect our business.” (more…)

Device security suite automates certificate management

McObject reports that the latest release of its in-memory real-time embedded database has been “tested compatible” with MontaVista's Linux implementation for telecommunications equipment. Freescale aims network processor at industrial apps

Freescale is readying a reference design kit that promotes its PowerQUICC II SoCs (system-on-chip processors) in industrial automation and control applications. Due in Q3, the MPC8360E-RDK includes a COM Express processor module based on the MPC8360E, said to be inexpensively re-programmable in microcode to accelerate complex industrial networking protocols.
