IntelliReach has used SuSE Linux in a spam-, virus-, and image-filtering network appliance supporting Notes, GroupWise, and Microsoft mail servers. The MessageScreen blocks 98 percent of spam, the company says, with “virtually zero” false positives. (more…)

The IGW/800 and IGW/900 can add an Ethernet interface to serial machines in factories, building control systems, and automotive applications, thereby increasing cable lengths and enabling them to send email or be controlled/logged remotely. Ex Red Hat heavies aim package tool at embedded Linux developers

Former Red Hat executives are behind a commercial package management tool said to facilitate system modifications better than dpkg or rpm. The 2003 startup Specifix says its “Conary” tool enables even heavily modified systems to track upstream versions easily, and the company will market a version to embedded Linux developers. (more…)
