New Sharp ARM922T-based SoC runs embedded Linux

Sharp Microelectronics says its highly integrated ARM922T-based 32-bit system-on-chip (SoC) processor, the LH7A404, is now available in production quantities. Sharp is targeting the 200MHz SoC processor at high-end mobile, industrial, and entertainment applications, and is supporting it with an embedded Linux tookit from Metrowerks. (more…)

Cirrus supports embedded Linux with 10 new embedded processors

Cirrus Logic has unveiled ten new embedded processors in its ARM9-based EP9xxx family. Cirrus says the new processors are ideal for applications such as digital media servers, audio/video jukeboxes, telematic control systems, intelligent house controllers, multizoned stereo audio systems, Internet radios, industrial controls, KVM controllers, biometric security systems, and GPS devices. Embeddable browser project hits milestone release, seeks funding

The Dillo project to build a small, fast, lightweight, standards-compliant embeddable Web browser has released a new version with “the largest set of improvements, ever,” according to project founder Jorge Cid. Intel outlines ultra-wideband wireless technology platform plans

Intel outlined plans today, at the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco, to drive the development of a complete, standards-based, common platform for ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless technology. Intel says future UWB technology-based products built on this platform will enable high-speed transfer of multimedia content between devices in the home or office, at lower costs and without the hassle of wires. Tri-core embedded microcontroller runs Linux

Infineon Technologies says it is now shipping a tri-core microcontroller (MCU) that can run Linux. The TC1130 MCU targets industrial and communications applications, such as programmable logic control (PLC) systems, high-performance motor drive systems, industrial communications devices such as switches, hubs and routers, and consumer applications such as set-top boxes.
