NetBSD supports Intel IXP425 evaluation platform

Wasabi Systems announced its port of Wasabi Certified NetBSD to the Intel IXP425 network processor, on Intel's IXP425 evaluation platform. Wasabi says this represents the first availability of certified NetBSD support for the IXP425. (more…)

Latest Intel compilers support Linux-based device development

Intel rolled out version 8.0 of its compiler family today, touting support for the latest models and features in Intel's processor line. Embedded Linux software for Windows Media streaming updated

Starbak Communications is shipping Starbak Embedded Streaming (SES) version 3.0, bringing Windows Media server technology to non-Windows-based devices. SES includes Linux binary code, reference hardware, prepaid royalties, support services, and testing tools. Unix derivatives and source code reference designs are available for additional fees. Motorola security processors gain Linux, CrytoAPI support

Arabella Software announced the release of Linux device drivers for the Motorola MPC184 and MPC185 security processors. The company says it also offers ongoing support for the new CryptoAPI interface, a standardized API for security processors in the 2.6 Linux kernel. (more…)

Embedded Linux tests optical networks

The world's largest provider of telecommunications and cable network test equipment has announced that it used MontaVista Software's embedded Linux in its latest product. Acterna says it turned to embedded Linux because the proprietary embedded OS used in its older products no longer met scalability requirements. (more…)
