Linux-powered industrial switchbox manages eight power mains

The Utronix IP-SwitchBox800 uses embedded Linux to provide remote control of power mains and a serial device. The IP-SwitchBox800 can switch up to eight 230-Volt mains, with maximum combined current of 16 amps, and attach to and control one machine through a serial port. (more…)

First CoM with IXP425 runs embedded Linux

Kontron announced what it claims is the first Computer-on-Module (COM) based on Intel's XScale IXP42x network processor. Chinese design center spins Linux-based “computing client” designs

Free OpenML SDK beta available

The Khronos Group today announced the first beta release of the Software Development Kit (SDK) for OpenML 1.0. OpenSSL certification could expand U.S. government’s Open Source horizons

OpenSSL could soon provide a validated mechanism through which a variety of applications could satisfy U.S. Government requirements for encryption, increasing the availability and lowering the costs of secure software for use by the Government. This will be possible if OpenSSL can secure National Institute of Science and Technology's (NIST) FIPS 140-2 level 1 cryptographic validation. (more…)

Lvl7 Systems announced that its Fastpath commercial IP software stack for Layer 2, 3, and 4 Ethernet products is now available fully integrated with Linux and VxWorks operating systems. Performance Technologies announced that it has updated its Linux-based NexusWare software suite, an embedded Linux implementation and development environment supporting the company's telecommunications board- and chassis-level hardware.
