Dec. 11 open source summit spotlights business and technology issues

The SDForum Open Source Summit and Expo will take place Dec. 11, 2003, at the Marriott Hotel, in Burlingame, Calif., from 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM. IBM VP of Emerging Internet Strategy Rod Smith delivers the opening keynote at 2:00 PM, followed by sessions in both Business and Technology tracks. Brian Behlendorf, founder of the Apache Project, delivers the evening keynote.

Event spokesperson Craig Oda comments, “In addition to the technical track, the perspectives from investors, legal experts, and marketing experts round out the summit. The connection between open source and money is a unique feature of this event.”

Oda adds, “Many people hope that a range of more mature open source business models will help to kickstart the tech economy in Silicon Valley.”
