CELF Linux source tree gains new mobile phone, telematics chips
Apr 12, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsLineo Solutions has contributed two more embedded Linux kernel ports to the CE Linux Forum (CELF) source tree. The ports support mobile phone and automotive telematics chips from Hitachi spinoff Renesas. They include power management, real-time, and other performance optimizations for consumer electronic devices.
One Lineo Solutions contribution supports the SH-Mobile (SH7303), an integrated processor developed specifically for multimedia-enabled mobile phones and backed by an SH-Mobile consortium with more than 70 members.
The other Lineo Solutions contribution supports the Renesas Camelot (SH7760), a highly integrated SoC (system-on-chip) for automotive telematics products found on a new Renesas Audio Board.
Senior Director Masahiro Miyake said, “As CELF releases these kernels for SH, it must have a great bearing upon the developers who use SH, especially in Japan..”
Lineo Solutions joined CELF in November of last year, and has previously contributed Linux kernels for i386 and SH7751.
The new ports are available for download from the CELF source tree.
