Compact, fanless Geode system runs Linux

The PL-01030 is based on an AMD Geode LX800 processor, sports dual 10/100 LAN ports, and targets network appliance, point-of-sale, kiosk, medical, entertainment, industrial, and… embedded applications.

The PL-01030 is based on a 500MHz Geode LX800 processor, along with AMD's CS5536 companion chip (northbridge) and WinBond's 83627HG super-I/O chip (southbridge). A single SODIMM socket supports up to 1GB of DDR, clocked up to 400MHz.

The PL-01030 supports Fedora Core 2, and Linux 2.6 and newer kernels, according to the company. Windows XP/XPe and Windows CE are also supported.

The PL-01030 is available with a choice of Intel or Realtek LANs, priced in single units around $390 (depending on Ethernet chip selection).
