Dallas, TX — (press release) — Coollogic Inc., a developer of embedded operating systems and software solutions for the Internet appliance market, today announced availability of the Coollinux AE (Appliance Edition) software platform for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The Coollinux AE software platform is built around a core operating system specifically designed for Internet appliances such as digital set-top boxes, countertop devices, Web pads, and thin clients. By using Coollinux AE bundled with Coollogic custom development, integration, support and service, OEMs experience faster product time to market and therefore, a greater return on investment.

The Coollinux AE platform supplies OEMs with a wide range of valuable features that, when combined, form the most flexible solution in the Internet appliance industry today. These features include:

  • The Coollinux AE platform is built around the Linux operating system and utilizes the full power of Java technology, a powerful combination in the embedded market. Additionally, a wide variety of popular applications are already available.
  • The Coollinux AE proprietary reflash technology increases the lifespan of the OEM's hardware product by enabling remote updates and upgrades to the core software as well as user information management.
  • The modular nature of the Coollinux operating system allows any functional upgrades to the core software to be seamlessly incorporated into customized versions without additional development time or costs.
The typical Coollinux AE configuration would consist of a completely integrated software stack containing a full-featured Web browser, enhanced multi-media applications and plug-ins, instant messaging, and customer-specific user interfaces and portals. OEM level support and service are also included.
