Details of delayed Ivy Bridge chips leak

Dec 5, 2011 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 views

Names, specifications, and performance comparisons have leaked for some of Intel's 22nm “Ivy Bridge” processors, scheduled for introduction during the second quarter of 2012. The Core i5-3xxx and i7-3xxx CPUs have TDPs ranging from 35 to 77 Watts, up to 25 percent better performance in office applications, and up to 200 percent improvement in graphics benchmarks, according to XBit Labs.

What appear to be official Intel documents detailing launch dates, models, and performance comparisons for the chipmaker's Ivy Bridge processors were shared on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30 by XBit Labs writer Anton Shilov. Eighteen Core i5-3xxx and i7-3xxx parts are listed, all but one of them quad-core, and with TDPs ranging from 35 to 77 Watts.

So many tech websites have now regurgitated the information supplied by Shilov that we prefer to refer you to the source stories here and here. Worthy of note, however, is that the Ivy Bridge launch appears to have slipped from the expected January (to coincide with the Consumer Electronics Show) to April.

Also, Intel is apparently claiming that compared to their Sandy Bridge predecessors, the Ivy Bridge CPUs will offer up to a 25 percent improvement in general computing performance, and up to a 200 percent improvement in graphics.
