Device-oriented products hot at LinuxWorld Expo
Aug 14, 2007 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsSeveral device-oriented products familiar to LinuxDevices readers came away from last week's LinuxWorld Expo with product excellence awards. Winners included Trolltech's Qtopia Greenphone SDK (software development kit), Unicon's System-on-Display hardware reference design, and Coverity's online… software quality testing tools.
Trolltech's Qtopia Greenphone SDK is intended to help application developers target mobile phones and other portable devices based on Trolltech's Qtopia application framework. The SDK optionally includes the Greenphone itself (depicted above), a GSM/GPRS phone with a user-modifiable Linux OS. The Greenphone won a similar award at LinuxWorld, London last year.
Unicon Systems's System-on-Display (depicted at right) is a multipurpose hardware reference design based on an Intel/Marvell XScale processor. It uses “chip-on-film” technology similar to that used in Motorola's RAZR phones, in order to achieve an extremely slim and trim profile.
Coverity's scan.coverity.com testing service tests applications for quality and security. The company famously used it to analyse 250 open source projects recently.
