Embedded Linux Advisory Board proposed
Sep 28, 1999 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsLyle Ball and Bryan Sparks of Lineo, in cooperation with Montavista Software, Zentropix, Motorola, Intel, Linux Weekly News and Linux Journal, have proposed the creation of an Embedded Linux Advisory Board, an independent and vendor-neutral organization to promote and advocate the use of Linux in the embedded systems arena.
Activities could include sponsorship of BOF sessions at trade shows, Linux signage, Linux pavilions and program tracks at embedded systems shows, proposal of standards and shared development of commonly required software, such as flash disk file systems.
Funding would come from corporate sponsorships, with complimentary memberships open to community groups and individual developers via a nomination process.
