Nov 9, 2005 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsNorwegian embedded Linux tools and interface software vendor Trolltech has expanded its international distribution channel. NeoMore will resell Qtopia and QT Embedded in France, while Nissin Systems will market Qtopia in Japan. Both companies will also provide first-line local support for Trolltech products as well.
Trolltech says its Qtopia and Qt Embedded products are used by more than 70 companies worldwide, in mobile phones, PDAs, consumer electronics, and other embedded devices. It calls Qtopia “the most widely-used development environment and user interface for Linux-based products (Linux kernel version 2.6).”
NeoMore
According to Trolltech, NeoMore is a premium French distributor of embedded products, including development tools, boards, emulators, and middleware. NeoMore also resells Linux distributions commonly used with Trolltech technologies, including MontaVista Linux. NeoMore is based near Paris, and was founded in 2003.
Trolltech CEO Haavard Nord said, “This agreement allows Trolltech to grow its presence in the embedded market in France. Customers will benefit from the high quality first-line support provided by NeoMore's experienced team.”
NeoMore's marketing manager, Nicolas Stenko, said, “NeoMore's core competency is in embedded technologies. Trolltech's products will play a key role in our fast growing embedded Linux market.”

It is based in Kyoto, and has 150 employees, including more than 100 in its engineering department and more than 30 in its marketing and sales department. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissin Electric Co.
In addition to reselling and supporting Qtopia, Nissin is Japan's master distributor for TimeSys LinuxLink services.
Nord said, “Linux is already widely used throughout Asia, [and] our partnership with Nissin Systems will make the Linux/Qtopia platform more accessible to organizations that require the convenience of a complete software stack.”
Nissin Systems board member Yoshikazu Takeuchi said, “Trolltech has become established as a leading innovator in the Asian embedded Linux market, and we are pleased to become a Trolltech technology partner in Japan.”
