MontaVista founder and embedded Linux pioneer Jim Ready will host a technical webinar on the past, present, and future of real-time Linux this month. Entitled “New developments in Real-time Linux,” the event is set for Wed., July 25, at 10:30 A.M.

Ready is a 25-year veteran of the embedded and real-time OS market. He is credited with leading the development of VRTX, the first commercially viable RTOS (real-time OS), in the mid-80s. He went on to found MontaVista — one of the first commercial Linux OS and tools providers — in 1999. Today, he serves as MontaVista's CTO.

The Ready-led webinar will feature topics that include:

  • Embedded Linux performance levels
  • APIs for integrating real-time Linux with application software
  • The future of real-time Linux
  • Live question-and-answer session
More information about the webinar can be found at LinuxWebinars.com.

Additionally, MontaVista has started to promote its annual partner event, Vision 2007 Embedded Linux Developers Conference, set for Oct. 8-10.
