Empower Technologies unveils $149 Linux PDA

Empower Technologies has announced the PowerPlay V, a Linux-based PDA equipped with the look and feel of a Palm Vx. The new PDA is currently available for purchase on Empower's website. In a related announcement, Empower Technologies also announced the release of the latest version of Linux DA, the company's Embedded Linux operating system.

The PowerPlay V PDA is based on a 16 MHz Motorola Dragonball system-on-chip processor with 8MB of system RAM memory plus 2MB Flash (upgradeable), and provides an IrDA interface. The display is a 160 x 160 pixel monochrome (4 grayscale) backlit touchscreen LCD. The unit is powered by a rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery. The device measures 4.6 x 3.2 x 0.5 in.

The new version of the Linux DA operating system includes “Real Time Data-Safe Technology” plus fourteen applications and seven games. The data-sync program supports Windows PCs, only.
