Fanless PC/104-Plus SBC runs at extreme temperatures

The “PPM-GX” is based on the low-power, high-integration AMD [email protected] processor, and runs Linux, among other embedded operating systems, according to the company.

The PPM-GX has a 200-pin SODIMM socket that accommodates up to 512 MB of DDR SDRAM, as well as a socket for a Type I or II CompactFlash (CF) cards with up to 8 GB of flash storage memory. A high-performance graphics controller integrated into the AMD GX [email protected] processor supports both CRT and flat panel displays with, respectively, resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 pixels and 1280 x 1024 pixels, the company said.
Additional touted features and specifications of this PC/104-Plus SBC include:

- 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet controller
- 2 x USB 1.1 ports
- 4 x serial ports (2 x RS-232; 2 x RS-232/422/485)
- TTL-level serial port for an optional external GPS receiver
- bidirectional LPT port supporting EPP/ECP modes
- AC97 audio with speaker output connector
- battery-backed real-time clock
- precision power-fail reset circuit
- programmable watchdog timer
- stackthrough PC/104-Plus expansion headers includes ISA and PCI buses
- requires 1.5 A (typical) at +5V DC
In addition to Linux, the SBC is compatible with other popular x86 desktop and embedded OSes, including QNX, VxWorks, Windows CE, and Windows XP Embedded, according to the company.
Availability
The PPM-GX is currently available, priced at $495 in single-unit quantities, WinSystems said.
