Rugged Core i7/i5 computer has five gigabit Ethernet ports
Feb 18, 2011 — by Eric Brown — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 8 viewsVecow announced a fanless industrial computer that employs Intel Core i7/15 processors and is designed for harsh environments. The Vecow EC-3000 Fanless Embedded Controller offers up to 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, plus SATA and Compact Flash storage, mini-PCIe expansion, up to five gigabit Ethernet ports, six USB 2.0 ports, four serial ports, and dual display capability, says the company.
The EC-3000 is designed for automated traffic enforcement, security and surveillance, industrial automation, and digital signage applications, among others, says Vecow. The EC-3000 uses the first generation Intel Core i7/i5 processors, which means that customers won't face the shipment delays of the latest "Sandy Bridge" Core processors, due to faulty SATA support in Intel's initial batch of chips.

The computer can drive dual displays, including analog displays of up to 2560 x 1600 pixels via the VGA port, and LCD displays via the DVI-I port at 1920×1080 resolution, says Vecow. Up to five gigabit Ethernet ports are available with the system, and six USB 2.0 ports come standard. Four serial ports are provided, with one being software-programmable. PS/2 and audio I/O are also said to be available.
