Free CES event matches Japanese CE houses with U.S. partners

Dec 3, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 views

U.S. companies interested in exploring business opportunities with leading Japanese consumer electronics makers are invited to participate in a matching event organized by JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) in conjunction with the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Jan. 8-11, 2004. Sony, Hitachi, Toshiba, Panasonic and 30 other Japanese companies are expected to participate.

In order to make the meetings productive, JETRO will circulate information about the products and services offered by U.S. applicants to participating Japanese companies prior to the event. JETRO will then set up appointments based on feedback from the Japanese firms.

U.S. companies interested in initiating, renewing, or expanding business with Japanese counterparts as suppliers or business partners are urged to apply. The deadline for application is December 15, 2003. Applicants will be informed about the number of meeting requests and firm meetings will be scheduled in advance of the event.

There is no charge for participation.

JETRO is a investment and trade promotion agency initiated by the Japanese government in 1958. It has 38 offices in Japan, and 80 offices worldwide, including several in the U.S. According to JETRO Project Coordinator Oren Bernstein, “We have contacts with a lot of Japanese companies. If we don't have a connection, we know how to establish one.”

Further details about the event and a downloadable application form can be found at the JETRO New York website.
