Toronto, Canada — (press release excerpt) — The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) is offering free LPI certification testing at Linuxworld Conference & Expo, August 13-15, Moscone Conference Center, San Francisco.

Offered to all conference attendees in Room #120 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 13, Wednesday, August 14 and Thursday, August 15; candidates must pre-register to receive a LPI registration number before testing on-site.

LPI reached a milestone last April by delivering over 10,000 Level One and Level Two certification exams globally since its inception in January 2000. LPI is offering exam 101 and exam 201 at the conference.

LPI's mandate is to design and deliver a certification program from within the Linux community, using both volunteer and hired resources. It resolves to undertake a well-considered, open, disciplined development process, leading directly to the establishment of a recognized and widely-endorsed Linux certification body.
