TimeSys has published its schedule of free embedded Linux webinars for April and early May. The schedule includes four half-hour events that discuss embedded Linux implementation processes, in the context of the company's LinuxLink service for embedded Linux developers creating or maintaining custom distributions.

Events include:

  • LinuxLink: moving beyond the embedded distro — An introductory LinuxLink webinar for users who have previously worked with free or commercial embedded Linux distributions. Topics include patching and compiling the Linux kernel, assembling a root file system (RFS) from pre-compiled binary RPMs, cross-compiling a source RPM, and adding an RPM to an RFS. Thurs., Apr. 13, 10:00 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT
  • Cygwin Essentials: Embedded linux development using Windows hosts — Installing (or updating) cygwin distributions, setting up host services, and troubleshooting. Tues., Apr. 18, at 10:00 AM PDT / 1:00 PM EDT.
  • Making Linux work in a tiny flash — Customizing the Linux kernel, the Linux root file system, and configuration of packages such as uclibc and busybox to meet footprint requirements. Tues., Apr. 25, 10:00 AM PDT / 1:00 PM EDT
  • Create a kernel and root file system (RFS) for an evaluation board — How to create and debug a Linux kernel loadable kernel module and RFS, and how to design and optimize target RFS images for an application. Tues. May 2, 10:00 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT
